How to Measure Your Ring Size
Finding your ring size is simple and helps make sure your ring feels comfortable to wear. A ring should feel secure on your finger, but not too tight. You should be able to slide it over your knuckle without too much force.
Use our ring size guide below to determine your ring size at home. You can measure a ring you already own, or measure your finger using paper or string.
How to Measure a Ring You Already Own
If you have a ring that already fits well, this is the easiest method.
Choose a ring that fits the finger you want to measure. Place it flat on a ruler and measure the inside of the ring from one edge to the other. Make sure you only measure the inside space, not the metal. Then check the diameter against the chart below.
How to Measure Your Finger at Home
Wrap a thin strip of paper or string around your finger. Keep it snug, but not tight. Mark the point where it meets, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. This gives you the circumference.
For the best result, measure your finger, when your hands are warmer. Fingers can be slightly smaller when cold.
What Do Diameter and Circumference Mean?
- Circumference: the distance around the inside of the ring.
- Diameter: the straight line across the inside of the ring.
UK Ring Size and US Conversion
Our chart shows how UK ring sizes match US sizes. As a quick guide:
- Sizes 6–7 = Extra Small / Small.
- Sizes 8–9 = Small / Medium.
- Sizes 10–11 = Medium / Large.
- Sizes 12–13 = Large / Extra Large.
If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for the perfect fit.
